A FABRIC LIBRARY OF YOUR FABRIC CHOICES
The heart of Hooligan Quilt Studio is your personal fabric library. You can add every fabric in your stash: give it a name, pick its color, choose its print style, and jot down notes. Better yet, you can photograph your actual fabric and upload the picture, so the quilt on your screen is made of the very fabrics sitting on your shelf.

And here's a detail quilters appreciate: if you tell the app the real-world size of your fabric photo — say, the print repeats across 36 inches — it will display that print at true scale on your quilt. A large floral looks large; a tiny calico looks tiny. A six-inch block shows exactly six inches of the print, just like it will in real life. No more guessing whether that gorgeous big print will actually work in a small block.

If you're just getting started, the app comes with a built-in sample fabric collection from Hooligan Creations, so you can begin designing the moment you sign up.

NEED A BIT OF HELP ON VALUES AND HARMONY?
There's even a "Blend" feature that suggests lighter and darker shades of any fabric, plus matching color pairings, which you can save as new entries — wonderful for planning ombré effects or finding that perfect coordinating solid. You can also save a "where to buy" link on any fabric so you never lose track of where to get more.

PAINT YOUR QUILT BLOCK BY BLOCK

Once your fabrics are in, open a project and start designing. Creating a new quilt is as simple as choosing a size — there are presets for common quilt sizes, or you can set your own by dimensions or by block count.

Designing feels like painting. Click a fabric, then click a square to fill it. Drag across the quilt to paint several blocks at once. Fill a whole row, a whole column, or the entire quilt with one click. Made a mistake? There's an eraser, plus full undo and redo. You can copy and paste sections, zoom in and out, and use a magnifier loupe for detailed work. A ruler overlay shows real measurements along the edges as you go, and everything saves automatically.

FREE BLOCK PATTERNS
It's not just solid squares, either. The app includes a catalog of classic pieced blocks — Churn Dash, Ohio Star, Pinwheel, half-square triangles, flying geese, and many more — that you can drop into any square and color with two fabrics. You can even fill each individual patch inside a pieced block with its own fabric, so a single block can showcase several prints, just like the real thing.

DO YOU OWN DIES?

If you add your dies to your DIE library, your program will tell you which blocks are compatible with the dies you own, and which ones are semi-compatible.

BUILD YOUR OWN NEW BLOCKS

For quilters who design their own blocks, the Block Builder is where the magic happens. Compose a custom block from squares, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, and more, on a 4, 6, or 12 grid at whatever finished size you choose. Your custom blocks are saved to your personal collection and can be painted into any quilt just like the built-in ones — and the app automatically generates a cutting list for every piece, with seam allowances included.

SASHING, BORDERS, CORNERSTONES AND MORE

A quilt is more than its blocks, and the app knows it. Turn on sashing between your blocks and pick its fabric and width. Add an outer border — either a solid border (with a different width on each side if you like, for that wider bottom border many quilts call for) or a piano key border, where you choose the fabrics and the app repeats them around the quilt in order. If you use sashing, add cornerstones at the intersections for an extra accent.

PANELS
Working with a pre-printed panel? Mark any fabric as a panel and it's kept in its own tab. Then, in your project's Layout tab, turn on the center panel option to reserve space for it at its true printed size — drag the handles to position and resize it right on your quilt.

APPLIQUE

Appliqué lovers aren't left out. Upload your own appliqué designs, or use the built-in Quick Shapes — hearts, stars, flowers, and beloved traditional shapes like Sunbonnet Sue and Dresden Plate. Place them anywhere on the quilt, then drag, resize, rotate, or flip them until they're just right. Print the pattern with their 1/4 inch seam allowance

THE MATH IS DONE FOR YOU

This might be the feature that saves you the most money: as you design, Hooligan Quilt Studio calculates your fabric requirements automatically. When your design is finished, open the shopping list and see exactly how many yards of each fabric you need — every fabric, every border, every sashing strip, accounted for. If you saved a shop link on a fabric, there's a "Buy" link right on the list. No more over-buying "just in case," and no more discovering mid-project that you're a quarter-yard short.

There are cutting lists, too, for every pieced block in your quilt — how many of each piece, in which fabric, at what cut size.

PRINT TEMPLATES AT TRUE SIZE

When it's time to move from screen to cutting table, the app prints your block and appliqué templates at their actual finished size, with exact cut sizes for every piece. Every template page includes a test square so you can verify your printer is printing true — and if your printer shrinks things slightly (many do), a built-in adjuster recalibrates every template to compensate. Measure once, and your templates come out accurate every time. Appliqué templates even have a mirror option for fusible web. And it prints with your 1/4 inch seam allowance.

SHARE AND AVE YOUR DESIGNS

Finished a design you're proud of? Share it. The app creates a lovely share image of your quilt for texting to a friend or posting to your guild's group. You can also download your complete quilt layout as a PNG, JPEG, or PDF — perfect for printing a reference sheet to keep beside your sewing machine, or for bringing to the quilt shop.

If you make a design you'll want to reuse, save it as a reusable pattern. Your patterns live in your library, and starting a new quilt from one takes a single click.

MADE FOR REAL QUILTERS ON MULTIPLE DEVICES

Everything works on desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone, so you can design at your desk and tweak colors from the couch. There's a built-in Help & Guide covering every feature in plain language, plus a friendly, guided tour when you first sign up. You can keep an inventory of your cutting dies, and the block catalog can even be filtered to show which blocks are friendly to die cutting.

Your designs are private, saved securely in your own account, and waiting for you on any device you sign in from.

WHY WE BUILT IT...
Every quilter knows the feeling. You fall in love with a pattern, buy the fabric, spend a weekend cutting — and somewhere around the third block, you realize the colors aren't doing what you imagined. The dark print swallows the star points. The background reads too busy. And now you're committed, because the fabric is already in pieces.

Hooligan Quilt Studio was created to end that annoyance. It's a quilt design tool that runs right in your web browser — no software to install, nothing to download — where you can plan, preview, and perfect your entire quilt on screen before your rotary cutter ever touches fabric. It works on your computer, laptop, tablet, and even your phone.

It was built by Hooligan Creations, a three-generation quilting family producing long-armed quilts, original designs, and upcycled fabric creations. This isn't software made by programmers guessing what quilters need — it's a tool made by people who live at the cutting table, for the quilting community they belong to.
